Mr. Lau started his legal career in 2012 as a litigation attorney focusing on entertainment, employment, and corporate matters. Mr. Lau has a vast range of experience of over five years in the cannabis industry which includes: (i) litigation on behalf of cannabis businesses in a variety legal disputes relating to contracts, intellectual property rights, licensing, municipal disputes, and landlord/tenant issues; (ii) providing M&A services and conducting due diligence for both cannabis business operators and private investors; and (iii) assisting cannabis businesses with state and local licensing and registration services.
With respect to his non-cannabis related work, Mr. Lau’s practice includes business law, general litigation, and entertainment law. Mr. Lau has provided guidance to business owners with regards to business planning and general corporate matters such as choice of entity planning; the formation, organization, governance and qualification of corporations, general and limited partnerships, and limited liability companies; and employment and consulting arrangements. Mr. Lau has also represented clients in commercial and residential real estate transactions, employment disputes, probate, and bankruptcy litigation.
Mr. Lau is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
